Kiswa of the Holy Kaaba follows the cover of the Kaaba from the looms of the King Abdulaziz Complex in Makkah to the moment it is raised over the Kaaba. The film moves between the quiet precision of the workshop, where black silk is woven and verses are embroidered in gold and silver thread, and the vast scale of the Grand Mosque.
Archival memory, the hands of the artisans, the overnight transfer of the Kiswa and its installation by the Complex teams come together in one continuous story of devotion and craft, renewed every year.
Directed by Jamal Jameel and produced by NOB x Engine Film.
