Mashrabiya tells the story of two young designers from Al Maana Studio and the piece they created together: an incense burner whose proportions and composition draw on the architecture of historic Jeddah and the form of the Kaaba.
Supported by the Cultural Development Fund as part of its Success Stories series, the film looks closely at the details that make the piece distinctive and at the thinking behind it, showing how heritage can shape contemporary Saudi design.
Directed by Jamal Jameel and produced by Engine Film in Riyadh.
